Safety

Keep Signpost useful and trustworthy.

These rules apply to pages, links, images, messages and any future booking or commerce module. They protect visitors, creators and the service itself.

Last updated 13 August 2026

Do not mislead or harm people

  • Do not impersonate another person, business or public service.
  • Do not publish phishing, malware, credential theft or deceptive redirects.
  • Do not make fraudulent offers or hide material terms from customers.
  • Do not harass, threaten, stalk, exploit or expose somebody's private information.
  • Do not facilitate child sexual exploitation or any sexual content involving a minor.
  • Do not promote terrorism, targeted violence or hatred against protected groups.

Respect law, ownership and consent

  • Use only content, names and trademarks you have permission to use.
  • Do not offer unlawful goods, services or regulated activity without required authority.
  • Do not send spam or add people to marketing lists without a valid basis and clear notice.
  • Do not evade sanctions, age restrictions, tax, licensing or consumer-protection duties.
  • Do not use personal information for a purpose visitors were not told about.

Do not attack or manipulate the service

  • Do not bypass access controls, rate limits, moderation or payment checks.
  • Do not probe another owner's private page, subscribers, bookings or files.
  • Do not inflate views, taps, reviews, sales or other measures artificially.
  • Do not disrupt Signpost or use automated traffic that degrades it for others.
  • Do not resell access or use the platform to build an unauthorised competing dataset.

How reports are handled

Visitors can report a page without creating an account. Signpost may hide content while a credible report is investigated, preserve relevant evidence, ask for more context and notify authorities where law or immediate safety requires it.

Reports must be made honestly. A disagreement, negative review or legitimate competition is not abuse by itself. Owners should have a fair route to challenge mistaken decisions, except where notice would create a safety or legal risk.
