Terms

The ground rules for Signpost.

These terms cover the Link Page and Bookings services. Separate terms will be added before any other paid or commerce module is offered publicly.

Last updated 13 August 2026

Who provides Signpost

Signpost is provided by Smith & Johnson Ltd (company number 12407892), 7 Bell Yard, London, United Kingdom, WC2A 2JR. Questions, complaints and legal notices can be sent through the website support form so the monitored destination address remains private.

Using an account

You must give accurate account information, keep access to your sign-in email secure and tell Signpost promptly if you believe somebody else has used your account. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account until it is reported and secured.

You may use Signpost only if you can legally agree to these terms. If you act for a business or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

Your page and content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Signpost the limited permission needed to host, process, resize, display and deliver it as part of the service. You must have the right to use every name, image, link, offer and other item you publish.

You are responsible for your business, promises and communications with visitors. A Signpost page does not mean Signpost endorses, verifies or guarantees the page owner or anything they sell.

Free service, Bookings and future paid modules

The standard Link Page and owner-selected Signpost address are free. Bookings is an optional module. When a customer pays through Bookings, Signpost charges the page owner a platform fee equal to 1% of the payment processed through Signpost. Stripe processing fees are separate and are charged under the page owner's agreement with Stripe.

Customer-owned domains and commerce are separate modules and may have their own prices, eligibility checks and additional terms. Signpost will show any price or transaction fee before a paid feature is enabled.

Bookings, deposits and refunds

The page owner, not Signpost, provides the appointment and is the business receiving the customer's payment. Deposits and any authorised final card payment are charged directly through the page owner's connected Stripe account. Signpost does not hold the customer's money or provide the booked service.

Before paying, the customer is shown the service, price, deposit and the page owner's cancellation and refund policy. The page owner is responsible for providing the service, handling customer questions and applying that policy lawfully. Signpost supplies the booking and payment tools and records the payment and refund status reported by Stripe.

The page owner is responsible for refunds, disputes, chargebacks, Stripe processing fees and any taxes connected with their appointments. Signpost may pause new paid bookings if Stripe reports that the page owner cannot accept charges or receive payouts.

Availability and changes

Signpost aims to provide a dependable service, but internet services sometimes fail or need maintenance. Do not use a free page as the only copy of important business records. Features may change to improve safety, comply with law or keep the service workable.

Nothing here removes rights that consumer or other mandatory law says cannot be removed. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Smith & Johnson Ltd is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost revenue, lost data or business interruption arising from use of Signpost. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it to be excluded or limited.

Governing law and disputes

These terms and any non-contractual dispute connected with Signpost are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives a consumer the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Suspension and ending use

Signpost may hide or suspend content while investigating abuse, safety, legal or security concerns. Serious or repeated breaches may result in account closure. Where it is safe and lawful, the owner will be told what happened and how to challenge a mistake.

Owners may unpublish a page at any time, download their account data or request account closure from the dashboard. A closure request immediately takes every owned page offline; financial and consent evidence may need to be retained even when ordinary content is removed.

Signpost is operated by Smith & Johnson Ltd (company number 12407892), 7 Bell Yard, London, United Kingdom, WC2A 2JR.
